Rosa of the Officine Santa Maria Novella is a sumptuous bouquet of floral notes that evokes the unique fragrance of the queen of perfumery, Rosa centifolia. The rose has very ancient origins. Roses already existed at the time of the Sumerians, rose is mentioned in the Iliad, and in China in the 5th century, rose oil was reserved for the emperor and the court nobles. The Romans made great use of it: the streets of the city were covered with rose petals during festivities, garlands of roses decorated banquets, rose water was sprayed on the guests. According to the archives, the Dominicans were already selling the precious rose water in 1381.
